Post Construction

Post Construction

How do you move back into your new home? Start by hiring cleaners. While contractors strive to keep a worksite clean, there are always fine particles of dust and wood chips left behind inside the cabinets, drawers and other places you would first load as you unpack boxes.  Take your time unpacking, use the opportunity to let go of items you didn’t really miss during your remodel and stage what you plan to keep instead of dumping everything back into your new space. This is your opportunity for a fresh start. Look back at your inspiration images and articles about organizing and be logical in the groupings so you can easily find what you are looking for. Remember, this space is new for you. Consider using sticky notes for the first few weeks to help you remember where to look for the plates, pots and pans as you build your new habits.

Photography of a Beautiful Kitchen

Photography of a Beautiful Kitchen

After a few weeks, Designers and Contractors will want to come and professionally photograph your home. In many cases this is a requirement in their agreements with you.

We’re often asked: “Does photography cost me extra money?” “What if I don’t need before and after photos?” “How does Design Set Match maintain my privacy?” The cost of photography is part of doing business for remodelers. We need to photograph your home so that our next client has an opportunity to see where their remodel might take them. Just as you had the opportunity to browse our portfolio on our website and on Houzz and Pinterest for inspiration, professionals need to keep photography up to date. Homeowners like yourself want to see fresh and relevant ideas. No one wants to work with a Designer who only shows outdated photos from five years ago.

At Design Set Match, we never disclose a homeowner’s private information, address or contact information without written consent. The few times any personal information might be disclosed would be to enter your project in a remodeling competition, and that is also kept confidential.

What should you expect from a photoshoot? Your Designer will coordinate the best times and dates to work around your schedule. You do not need to be home, but you will need to provide a key and alarm code to let us in. We recommended your cleaning service to come the day before the photoshoot. We will bring a few staging items for a finished look that you will be proud to show to all your friends and family. Your Designer will adjust items, temporarily declutter the countertops, finetune details, and put everything back in the place you have designated. In a few weeks, we will provide you with a link to download the photos from our portfolio. We give our client permission to use these photos as they desire. Some choose to use the photography when they sell their home in a few years, others make a coffee table book about their home’s transformation.

With the onset of COVID-19 and shelter-in-place restrictions we have modified how we work in the Post-Construction process. At this time all residential photography has ceased. When restrictions are eased, Design Set Match will continue to work from home regularly and come to clients’ homes on a limited basis wearing protective masks and gloves within the guidelines as they are spelled out by the governing officials.
